International Day for the Eradication of Poverty: October 17

end poverty

May this day teach us to promote just distribution and usage of world resources. May all peoples and nations truly realize that unless this is actively promoted, the lot of each of us, even when apparently better off, is not only morally questionable but is at risk and volatile. (cf. Populorum  Progressio #55; and Gaudium et Spes 83-84.) Different countries and institutions have their obligations to carry out in this regard. But so do we all. Each and everyone of us. For  no matter your situation, you are richer than someone near you, somehow. Make life better for that someone. Poverty will then soon be a  less worry for our world.
